Christ-Centered, Scripture-Shaped Formation

Sangre de Cristo Seminary stands in the tradition of the Protestant Reformation. We believe the Bible is true and without error in its original form, and it shapes our teaching and approach to education.

We believe that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior, and that apart from faith in His atoning work, there is no redemption. These convictions guide our teaching and life together.

Scripture is central to all we do—it is to be trusted, honored, and obeyed. Reading Scripture, prayer, and singing hymns and psalms are regular parts of seminary life.

The Westminster Confession of Faith guides our worship practices, including chapel gatherings.

We do not take a specific stand on the mode of baptism, form of Church government, or the sequence of events at Christ’s second coming.

We affirm the doctrines of Scripture as summarized in these three historic creeds:

  • The Apostle’s Creed
  • The Nicene Creed
  • The Creed of Chalcedon

We also hold to those doctrines which are common to the…

  • Thirty-Nine Articles of Religion
  • The Westminster Confession of Faith
  • The Heidelberg Catechism
  • The Canons of Dort
  • The Philadelphia Confession of Faith
